Micrima to develop new imaging technology for breast cancer screening

YFM Group and Swarraton Partners have co-led a £2 million investment in Micrima, a Bristol University spin-out.

Micrima is developing radio wave technology to improve detection of breast cancer. The imaging system captures high-resolution, 3D images through the use of radio waves and has the potential to offer several advantages over existing primary screening technology.

The initial investment will fund technical development and further clinical trials at Frenchay Hospital’s Breast Clinic in Bristol. Clinical work will then be extended to include women from other centres around the UK.
